School psychologists are often at the front lines of confronting the consequences of social injustices in our communities. As school psychologists at the table charged with advocating for the needs of our students, we face no shortage of challenges. We see subtle and insidious bias in our instruments, bias in discipline practices and implementation, and even bias in our placements and access to our desperately needed services. These biases can sometimes be unknown and difficult to identify within others and ourselves. While conversations about these issues can prove equally challenging, beginning to discuss these inequities in a safe environment is our only way to move forward with greater social justice for the students we seek to champion. Join us for this special opportunity to come together and build our advocacy skills together.
